Persistent boxes for Claude Code, Codex & Gemini

Close the lid.
The work stays open.

Your agents run on a real machine in Germany, not on the laptop in your bag. Shut it and nothing stops.

Claude Code Codex CLI Gemini CLI and anything else you can install

Bring your own keys. Nothing here is tied to one vendor.

The problem

Your laptop is the weakest link

The agent is rarely the fragile part. The laptop you run it on is: it sleeps, it moves between networks, and it runs out of room by the fourth session.

01

You close the lid

The run dies mid-task, and its context dies with it.

02

You change network

Café to airport. The connection drops, the session goes too.

03

You start a fifth agent

Four is the practical limit on a laptop. Then everything crawls.

None of it is your agent's fault. It is where you run it.

How it works

Running in about a minute

  1. 1 box:create

    Pick a size

A real machine boots in around 60 seconds, agents already installed.

  2. 2 ssh dana@box-04

    Open a terminal

In your browser or over SSH. You have root from the first second.

  3. 3

    Walk away

Close everything. Come back tomorrow, from any device — it is still going.

Create your first box

You pay for the box by the hour, and nothing while it is off.

What you get

A machine, not a sandbox

It doesn't stop when you do

Your work survives the browser closing, the WiFi changing, and our own software restarting under it.

Tested by killing our agent mid-run. The work carried on.

Ten agents. No fan noise.

Up to 48 cores and 192 GB, so you can run a fleet of agents beside a database and a browser.

Your laptop stops at four.

Postgres in one click. Or anything.

Node, PHP, Python, Go, MySQL, Redis, Docker — one click each. Root means nothing is off-limits.

Real installs, reported step by step.

For teams

One machine. Separate accounts.

A shared box is not a shared login. Everyone gets their own account, their own private home and their own sessions.

  • Nobody can read anyone else's files
  • One shared project folder, on purpose
  • Roles and permissions per member
  • Remove someone from every box in one click
Start a team workspace

4 people on one Workshop

€22

per person, per month

Machine included. It does not get more expensive when the fifth person joins.

For whoever signs it off

Agents with root. Just not on your laptop.

An agent with root can do real damage. What matters is what it can reach — the keys on your laptop and your home network, or one box you can wipe and rebuild in a minute.

Credentials stop travelling

They live on the box, not on hardware you carry through an airport.

One box, one blast radius

The worst case is a machine we rebuild in a minute.

Isolated by default

A separate Linux user per member. Not a setting you have to find.

German law, German servers

Sovereignty, not only residency. No US parent company in the chain.

Where we actually are

  • Isolated execution per box and per member Live
  • Least-privilege, per-member credentials Live
  • Suspend keeps the disk. Destroy is always a human action Live
  • EU residency and jurisdiction Live

Fair question

Why not just…

…use my laptop?

It sleeps, changes network and runs out of battery — and it holds your production keys while doing it.

Ours is awake at 3am with the keys nowhere near your bag.

…rent a container?

Cheap and quick, until you need real root, a stable identity, and a database beside three runtimes.

You get a whole machine, and you can share it.

…run my own VPS?

You can. That is a weekend of setup and hardening — then again for every teammate, forever.

Same machine, one minute, and offboarding is one click.

Pricing

Pay for the machine. That's it.

You always pay for the box you rent — metered by the hour, capped at its monthly price, and nothing while it is off. Solo adds no platform fee on top; Team and Enterprise do.

Solo

One person, one machine that remembers where you were.

Box only

Questions

Everything people ask before signing up

Which AI coding agents are supported?

Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI and Gemini CLI come preinstalled, and you can install anything else because you have root. You bring your own API keys, so you keep your existing plan and rate limits. We are deliberately agent-agnostic: nothing here is tied to one vendor.

Is my work really safe when I close the laptop?

Yes. It runs on the machine, not in your browser — the browser is only a window onto it. Closing the tab, losing WiFi or shutting the lid changes nothing. We test it by killing our own software mid-run and watching the work continue.

Can my team share one machine?

Yes, and it is the cheapest way to use ClosedLid. Each person gets their own account, their own private home directory and their own sessions, plus one shared folder. Nobody can read anybody else's files.

What if I only need it for two days?

Then you pay for two days. Boxes are metered hourly and capped at the monthly price, and a box that is switched off costs nothing while the disk is kept.

Can I install whatever I want?

It is a whole virtual machine with root, not a container. Databases, headless browsers, several language versions side by side — all fine. The common ones are one click.

What if I want to leave?

It is a standard Linux machine with your SSH key on it, so everything copies out with one command. No contract on the self-serve plans, and cancelling is deleting a box.
